In a few hours’ time, one of Doctor Who’s most iconic stories, “The War Games,” is being screened on BBC Four, following a stunning new makeover. This classic tale, originally broadcast in black and white, is being brought to life in vibrant colour for the first time.
But where can you watch it?
The colourised version of “The War Games” will premiere on BBC Four on Monday, December 23rd at 9 pm GMT. If you can’t catch it live, don’t worry! It will also be available to stream FREE on BBC iPlayer as it airs and on-demand.
But what if you’re not in the UK?
Unfortunately, for US and Canadian viewers, Doctor Who: The War Games in Colour will not be available on BBC iPlayer, primarily a UK-based service. Similarly, ” is will not be available to view in Australia or New Zealand.
It will also not be available internationally on Disney+.
Things can change in a few weeks’ time, however. We suggest the following:
- Check with other streaming platforms: Look into services like BritBox or other streaming platforms that specialize in British television in the US and Canada. They may acquire the rights to stream the colourised version.
- Look for potential DVD/Blu-ray releases: The colourised version may eventually be released on physical media, which would make it accessible to viewers outside of the UK.
We’ll be discussing Doctor Who: The War Games in Colour on the podcast in the New Year.
