The Husbands of River Song: Why We Would Rather Watch Stick Man

Charming, heartfelt, full of character and warmth… not a description that you could use for The Husbands of River Song, the 2015 Doctor Who Christmas special. Rather, it describes Stick Man, the Jennifer Saunders-narrated, Martin Freeman-voiced Christmas day animation from the creator of The Gruffalo.

Should Doctor Who, once the bastion of Christmas Day family viewing, be playing second fiddle to a 26 minute long animation, and losing so much of the audience from that same story that directly precedes it in the schedule?

Yes, it’s another tale of audience figure woe in this week’s podKast.
