Dylan Moran's latest DVD release from the Yeah Yeah tour

Irish legend and easily one of the funniest comics of the past 20 years, Dylan Moran has a strong following of almost fevered adoration thanks to his appearance in the seminal Channel 4 comedy Black Books. As a result, a review of any material he performs is to a certain extent pointless as his fans will buy it anyway.

However he doesn’t strike as the sort of chap to put out any old crap, which is why it is a pleasure to announce that his latest DVD Yeah Yeah Live in London is definitely a success. It may not be as completely engaging as the previous release What It Is – but let’s face it, that was a tough act to follow. Frankly, as long as his dishevelled Celtic charm is doing status and not being wasted in Simon Pegg movies, the world is a slightly happier place.

Dylan Moran's latest DVD release from the Yeah Yeah tourAs ever, it is Moran’s view of the world that we’re subjected to, largely on the matter of class and how he has correctly identified that there is a huge chasm between the south of England and the rest of the United Kingdom, a domain looked upon by those in the affluent capital in many different ways, as Moran explains. It’s not all about the north/south, Irish/south, Welsh/south or Scotland/south divide, however; Dylan has plenty of thoughts on other things, from women to vegans.

It is with the matter of politics that Moran is most astute, however, observing how it could take 100,000 years of bullshit from the current establishment of bankers, politicians and big business screwing the English over before we start to get even close to any sort of uprising against the system.

This is why Moran is a hugely significant comedian. He’s able to effortlessly mix real world concerns with a surreal understanding of how things might, should or actually do work, leaving the audience amused and hopefully recognising the truth in his words.

It’s genius stuff, and whether you were fortunate enough to see any of the dates on his most recent tour, you should be scrambling to get a copy of this release as soon as you can.

Dylan Moran: Yeah, Yeah – Live in London was released on November 14th and can be purchased from Amazon for £12.93
